Actionable Claim
A legal right to recover money or benefits that are owed but not yet received.
What is Actionable Claim?
An acquittal is a court’s formal finding that a defendant is not guilty of the criminal charges. It means the prosecution failed to meet the burden of proof, and the defendant cannot be retried for the same offense under double-jeopardy rules.
Why It Matters?
It protects people and businesses by allowing them to legally recover money or benefits that are overdue or withheld.
Example
A supplier delivers goods but the buyer never pays the remaining balance. That unpaid amount becomes an actionable claim the supplier can enforce in court.
